How tu use
It can work in various ways:
- For controlling baby hairs and flyaways: Use a pea-sized amount.
- For soft definition: Apply a walnut-sized amount to soaking wet hair.
- For a “wet look” effect: Use a larger amount on towel-dried hair.
Want defined and soft curls? Hate the cast?
Apply to soaking wet hair using the scrunching technique, possibly adding more water with your hands, head down, and ensure even distribution in each section. For thick or medium hair, it’s helpful to section it, especially if you have high density (lots of hair). If you love extreme definition, you can use a styling brush at this stage before drying. For fine and low-density hair, avoid over-manipulating; use techniques like praying hands and raking (apply the gel with hands as if you’re using a wide-tooth comb). Do a bit of scrunching, then proceed with microplopping and drying with a diffuser on medium heat.
For super hold and a strong cast: Apply a bit more product, use it on towel-dried hair, or add a bit more mid-dry. The gel-mousse-gel technique is also suitable, though not ideal for all hair types. If your hair is very fine, multiple styling steps might be too much.
Don’t overlook the LOC method for styling, especially for medium to thick hair: Gel – Oil (like the Multi Oil from the Curly HCR line) – Leave-in Cream. This method is more suitable for medium to coarse hair, as it can be too heavy for fine hair.
YOUR QUESTIONS
- Is this gel only suitable for curly hair? The answer is no; it works for all hair types, although the results will vary depending on the application techniques. For straight hair, I recommend using it before the leave-in conditioner on soaking wet hair.
