THE FIRST STEP TO PROTECT LIGHT HAIR

Bottle of 200 ml with dispenser – PAO 12 months

Gentle even on treated hair, this professional shampoo, also suitable for home use, cools and refreshes the color. Thanks to violet pigments and natural violet, colored functional actives, blueberry berries, Viola tricolor, purple potato, and clitoria, it helps neutralize yellow undertones in blonde (natural, highlighted, or bleached), gray, and white hair. Its multifunctional formula is rich in antioxidant, moisturizing, and color-protecting plant extracts. It also contains pea proteins, which regenerate and repair the hair fiber.

Wear protective gloves and leave it on for the duration of the wash only. You can repeat the toning treatment weekly, alternating it with another shampoo. Use it at least three weeks after any coloring treatments.

DETAILS: Colored, treated/bleached, or light hair?

Inevitably, light-colored hair tends to yellow naturally within a few weeks after coloring. In general, all chemically colored hair tends to lose pigment over a few weeks, revealing an underlying red, copper, or golden tone that becomes increasingly noticeable. This is absolutely inevitable, even with the best dyes in the world. Additionally, treated hair, including bleached hair, has higher porosity, making it more susceptible to oxidative damage (it absorbs more UV rays), which not only yellows the hair but also makes it more fragile! Treated hair is therefore more prone to color alteration and dehydration.

A similar effect can also be observed in natural blonde, white, or gray hair. This is because the sun causes photo-oxidation of melanin, the natural pigment that gives hair its color. Photo-oxidation has two tangible effects: fading/yellowing and increased fragility and dehydration. As a result, hair not only becomes lighter and more yellow, but also duller, drier, and more prone to split ends or breakage. These effects are more pronounced in light hair because it contains less melanin.

Let’s not forget that saltwater and pool chlorine can also contribute to hair yellowing by interacting with melanin and altering its color. Good prevention includes protecting hair with swim caps that keep water out, or using protective products such as leave-in oils and creams (for example, Bio Gentleaf products).

Light hair, whether natural or chemically colored, highlighted, or lightened with techniques like balayage, can be treated naturally to neutralize yellow tones. By using specific organic products rich in antioxidants, moisturizers, and strengthening agents, thanks to Bio Gentleaf’s advanced formulas, we can care for this hair type effectively. The new SILVER ICE line not only neutralizes warm and golden undertones but also helps maintain hydration and protection for light hair, combating dryness, fragility, and dullness caused by chronological and photo-induced factors, thanks to plant-based actives rich in powerful antioxidants.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

BIOFERMENTED RICE

PURPLE POTATO

ORGANIC BLUEBERRY BERRIES

TRICOLOR VIOLET

PEA

TEASEL

CLITORIA (BUTTERLY PEA)

Organic Rice Bioferment: it holds so many virtues that it is, on its own, the best friend of healthy hair. It stimulates growth and strength; it has detangling, emollient, elasticity-enhancing, shine-boosting and strengthening properties.

Purple Potato: rich in antioxidants (anthocyanins), it has a beneficial effect on the hair follicles, counteracting aging and promoting hair growth. It also has strengthening properties for the hair and soothing properties for the scalp.

Organic Blueberry Berries: they have antioxidant properties (they counteract the formation of free radicals, which are harmful to hair follicles and cause dryness and hair fragility) and are rich in vitamins and minerals. The anthocyanins and Vitamin C improve blood circulation in the scalp, stimulating growth and preventing dryness and hair loss. They also stimulate collagen production and strengthen the hair follicles, making the hair shiny and strong

Viola Tricolor: also known as the wild pansy, it has dermo-purifying and sebum-regulating properties. It helps balance and soothe the scalp.

Pea: rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins, it promotes hair strength and growth. B vitamins stimulate keratin production, which largely makes up the hair fiber. The proteins and amino acids in peas help make the hair fiber stronger and more resistant to breakage.

Woolly thistle: the phytosterols in the thistle have positive effects on hair growth and health, while improving scalp condition by reducing dryness, inflammation, or flaking. They also help minimize oxidative stress, preventing follicle aging.

Clitoria (butterfly pea) or Clitoria ternatea
is a plant with blue flowers that offers various benefits for hair. Thanks to its high content of antioxidants (anthocyanins) and nutrients, it can strengthen hair, stimulate growth, prevent hair loss, and impart shine and softness. Clitoria is also said to help delay the appearance of gray hair by stimulating the activity of melanocytes, the cells responsible for hair pigmentation.

How to use

Always wear protective gloves to avoid staining your hands. Apply the shampoo to the scalp and lengths, starting from the ends and working up toward the roots; massage gently and rinse thoroughly. Follow with the Anti-Yellow Conditioner from the same line to seal and layer the violet pigments. It is not necessary to use the Purple Shampoo at every wash; once a week or every 10–15 days may be sufficient, depending on your hair.

Do not exceed the recommended application time to avoid a coloring effect (leave it on only for the duration of the wash). This is a toning shampoo; if you are not satisfied with the result, the color will naturally fade within a few washes and is not permanent. In that case, use a sulfate-containing shampoo to help remove the pigments from the hair more quickly, such as the Sensitivoo Shampoo from the Korean HCR line, or the Detox Chelating Shampoo.

If you have treated hair, alternate it with a regular sulfate-free shampoo, such as the Low Poo Force 7 Sea Shampoo with marine actives, ideal for demanding hair, or the Glossy Laminating Shampoo with vegetable keratin, to restore body and shine to high-maintenance hair.

Combo: We recommend using the Purple Shampoo followed by the Anti-Yellow Conditioner (sealing), the Anti-Yellow Leave-In Conditioner (with anti-fade UV filter), and the Anti-Yellow Heat Protectant (which protects from heat during blow-drying and from environmental damage, while also preventing hair yellowing).

For hair damaged by coloring or treatments, we recommend consulting our team to get a complete routine designed to restore the hair fiber.

GREEN HAIR? NO THANKS!

Hair can turn green after using a toning product due to a chemical reaction between the toner pigments and bleached or colored hair, particularly if overused or applied on unsuitable bases.

Here are the most common causes:

They are designed to neutralize warm (yellow) tones in bleached hair. If the toner is left on for too long, these pigments can interact with leftover color and create greenish reflections. Remember that even months after chemical coloring, these pigments remain in the hair and do not completely disappear, even over extended periods.
Pool water: rich in chlorine, it can react with hair pigments, especially in bleached or colored hair, leading to unwanted greenish tones.
Heavy metals in water: water containing copper, iron, or other minerals can deposit on the hair and interact with pigments, causing a greenish effect.
Unsuitable hair base: if the starting base for the toner has not been sufficiently lightened, or if it already contains unwanted tones, applying the toner may not achieve the desired result and can bring out greenish reflections.

To prevent or correct greenish tones, I recommend:

  • Choose the right toner!
  • Consult a hairdresser to determine the most suitable toner for your hair base and the desired result.
  • Use the toner in moderation, especially during the first application.
  • Follow the instructions carefully and do not exceed the recommended processing time for the toner.
  • Protect your hair from pool water: wear a swim cap and rinse your hair with clean water after swimming.
  • Use the chelating shampoo and the acidic chelating mask from the Detox line, which help neutralize greenish tones or prevent them from appearing.
  • Consult a professional if greenish tones are persistent or difficult to remove; ask a hairdresser for a professional correction.
